What (or who!) first introduced you to the outdoors lifestyle?
Growing up in Upstate New York I had a love for the outdoors from an early age. I lived close to a Native American archeological site and was fascinated with primitive survival.
What's been your most memorable trip/outdoors experience?
My wife and I traveled to Sedona, Arizona and the Grand Canyon. It was an amazing experience in a completely different terrain than I grew up in. The canyons were beautiful and going on hikes there felt like a spiritual retreat.
What first brought you to GOPC and what do you love about working there?
I went on a backpacking trip with Zach Roberts who was the previous manager of Virginia Beach store (now he manages at Charlottesville!). We became good friends after bonding over our love of outdoors and primitive survival techniques. He then brought me on board at the Virginia Beach location and I was honored to be part of the 701 Roberts squad!
What has been your most special customer moment?
It is so rewarding fitting customers with shoes that actually fit their feet. I have had so many customers be completely shocked when I ask to measure their feet. It seems to be a lost art - many footwear stores do not offer the option now. Seeing their faces when they try the shoe on in-store (instant relief!) is always a high for me.
