Gifts of Warmth
Giving Back in the Season of Giving
Each year, we partner with you to give back to our local community in a variety of ways. And we kick that into high gear each November and December. Scroll down for details on:

The Gift Of Warmth Coat Drive
NOVEMBER 24 – DECEMBER 7 2025
Donate gently used coats by dropping them off at one of our shop locations. 11/24–12/7. In return, participating customers receive a 20% off coupon of one regular priced outerwear item (exclusions apply)
Donations received will serve the needs in your local community via our local partners like the Salvation Army.
Our Coat Drive is made possible by your generous donations and by local non-profits that serve those affected by poverty and disaster. Working with these organizations, we are grateful that hope and life-changing help is provided to homeless and hurting individuals.

Giving Tuesday, December 2
On Giving Tuesday, we celebrate and honor the amazing organizations we support throughout the year.
This year, our Chapel Hill shop suffered a catastrophic flood, with months shut down to clean up and rebuild. Many of our shop neighbors suffered the same total loss, and it was through those months that we all came to see the strength of our community. We reopened in late October and are so very grateful to everyone (staff, neighbors, friends and family) who helped get us there.
In addition, land conservation remain near and dear to our hearts. We support 9 land conservancies throughout NC and VA. We do clean ups around NC and VA, including the MST and the Appalachian Trail. We support the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, and sponsor wilderness and trail events. And, of course, in November and December, we have our annual Gifts of Warmth Coat Drive and Habitat Day.

Habitat Day, Saturday, December 6
Shop with us on December 6!
5% of all sales goes to the local Habitat for Humanity.
As a wilderness outfitter, we equip folks so they are comfortable in the outdoors. Voluntarily leaving a warm, dry home requires the confidence that one’s gear is adequate protection—shelter, food, and clothing become a priority that we normally take for granted. Habitat Day reminds us that not everyone has an affordable home.
Each year our “Staying Warm from the Inside Out” campaign spreads the vision of “every family in a healthy home, a peaceful neighborhood, in a sustainable, diverse, tolerant, and vibrant community.”
