What differentiates Swell kayaks from every other SOT is the patented Scupper Valve, which helps create a lower center of gravity for exceptional stability and enhanced comfort during long paddling sessions. This valve utilizes the Venturi effect to suck water out of the cockpit when the kayak is paddled at speed. The faster you paddle, the more quickly the kayak self-drains.

What's the big deal? In a traditional SOT kayak, the paddler is sitting above the waterline -otherwise, your butt would be sitting in a pool of water. Because of this high center of gravity, the traditional SOT has to be built wide to be stable. Wide boats are less efficient than narrow boats. In a Swell kayak, the paddler is sitting below the waterline and thus, the center of gravity is low. This lower center of gravity allows for a stable, narrow and efficient kayak -which would not be possible without the patented Scupper Valves.

Additional features include a scalloped out mid-section to allow for more efficient paddle strokes and a superior seat that keeps the center of gravity low and allows for more bend at the knees for efficient power transfer.
