Sportswear Merchandiser – Raleigh, NC

Sportswear Merchandiser – Raleigh, NC –

We’re seeking energetic, reliable, and outdoor-loving teammates to join our sales floor crew. You don’t need to be an expert in every activity. We’ll help you learn what you need to know, but you should enjoy helping people, working with a team, and staying active in a fast-paced environment. Part-time and full-time opportunities are available, and our team includes college students, recent grads, teachers, outdoor professionals, and lifelong adventurers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading small teams of staff in processing and merchandising product and displays 
  • Greet and assist customers with warmth, attentiveness, and product knowledge 
  • Support fitting, outfitting, and guiding customers toward the right gear for their needs 
  • Operate the register, restock inventory, and keep the sales floor tidy and shoppable 
  • Lift, move, and organize boxes, shipments
  • Communicate clearly and proactively with teammates and managers 
  • Take initiative and contribute to a friendly, inclusive, and helpful shop culture 
  • Handling cash related to opening and closing register drawers 
  • Performing a range of sportswear responsibilities including processing, merchandising, organizing.

Details & Requirements

  • Schedule: Full Time staff work an average of 35 hours per week, mostly within the framework of four 9 hour work days per week. Flexibility of schedule is a necessity, as staff usually does not work the same schedule week to week. 
  • Store Hours
    Mon–Sat: 10am–6pm 
    Sun: 12pm–5pm 

(extended hours during the holiday months)

Fly Fishing Department Manager (PMC) - FT/PT- Raleigh, NC

The Great Outdoor Provision Co. Raleigh location is looking for a Fly-Fishing department manager to join their team.  This person would serve as the liaison between customers regarding all things fly fishing.  Key responsibilities and knowledge for the role of Fly-Fishing Product Manager Contact include, but not limited to: 

 

  • Serve as the primary contact point for our central fly-fishing product manager, fly fishing customers, and fellow staff with fly fishing-related questions. They would serve as an added resident fly fishing expert. 
  • Thorough understanding of freshwater and saltwater fly fishing is strongly recommended.  
  • Well-rounded understanding of fly tying and how those materials are utilized in flies.  
  • Merchandising the fly-fishing department so that it is visually appealing and easily shoppable.
  • Order and manage inventory of flies and spooled fly-tying materials in a way that is tailored to our market.
  • Help facilitate and lead fly tying classes / socials.

 

This person, just like the rest of our staff, would serve the primary role of assisting customers in all departments across the store. Their day to day would be dynamic and changing but the throughline would be serving customers seeking out products across the outdoor industry.  

In the case that they took this on as a full-time position, the candidate would also hold the following Key Holder responsibilities:

This team member, just as the rest of our staff, would serve the primary role of assisting customers in all departments across the store. Their day to day would be dynamic and changing but the throughline would be serving customers seeking out products across the outdoor industry. More specific to this position, this staff member will have the following Fly Fishing Product Manager Contact (PMC) responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary contact point for our central fly fishing product manager, fly fishing customers, and fellow staff with fly fishing related questions. They would serve as an added resident fly fishing expert.
  • Merchandising the fly fishing department so that it is visually appealing and easily shoppable

  • Help lead our monthly Fly Tying Socials

Fly Fishing Department Manager (PMC) - FT/PT- Chapel Hill, NC

Great Outdoor Provision Co. – Chapel Hill Shop

Great Outdoor Provision Co. is looking for a passionate and experienced fly fishing team member to help lead and grow our fly fishing department in Chapel Hill.

This is a hands-on retail leadership role for someone who genuinely loves fly fishing and enjoys helping others learn, explore, and get outside. We’re especially interested in candidates who bring both strong customer service instincts and authentic enthusiasm for the sport.

Internally, this role is known as a Product Manager Contact (PMC). The PMC serves as the Chapel Hill shop’s lead fly fishing team member and primary connection to GOPC’s Fly Fishing Product Manager, who is based in Raleigh and works with all GOPC shops to help guide the company’s overall fly fishing assortment, vendor relationships, and product direction.

This role carries significant responsibility for the day-to-day strength of the Chapel Hill fly fishing department, including merchandising, inventory flow, customer engagement, staff education, and communication with GOPC’s broader fly fishing leadership team.

The PMC is responsible for ordering and replenishing the Chapel Hill shop’s flies and spooled fly tying materials, while collaborating with GOPC’s Fly Fishing Product Manager on the broader department assortment.

This role offers meaningful opportunity to help shape and grow fly fishing within the Chapel Hill shop and surrounding community.

This is not a corporate management position. It’s a specialty outdoor retail role centered around product knowledge, hospitality, teamwork, and stewardship of an important department within the shop.

RESPONSIBILITIES

· Assist customers with fly rods, reels, lines, flies, waders, packs, accessories, and rigging

· Help maintain a well-stocked, organized, and visually compelling fly fishing department

· Order and replenish the Chapel Hill shop’s flies and select spooled fly tying materials while communicating customer feedback, product trends, and broader department needs to GOPC’s Fly Fishing Product Manager

· Maintain strong connections within the local and regional fly fishing community

· Participate in merchandising, restocking, seasonal product flow, and department upkeep

· Help train and support fellow staff members on fly fishing products and techniques

· Maintain department materials including signage, product information, and merchandising aids

· Support special orders, vendor communication, and customer follow-through when needed

Great Outdoor Provision Co. is looking for a paddlesports-oriented sales associate to join our Chapel Hill team.

This is a hands-on outdoor retail role for someone who genuinely enjoys kayaking, canoeing, rivers, lakes, and helping customers feel confident getting on the water. We’re especially interested in candidates who bring both strong customer service instincts and authentic enthusiasm for paddlesports and kayak fishing.

Our paddlesports department is one of the strongest specialty paddlesports operations in the region, with a long history of helping customers explore local rivers, lakes, coastal waters, and fishing destinations throughout the Southeast.

This role is designed to strengthen our paddlesports floor coverage, customer support, technical product knowledge, and connection to the local paddling and kayak fishing community.

While this role has a strong paddlesports emphasis, all GOPC staff members work throughout the shop helping customers across multiple departments. This role calls for someone who brings particular enthusiasm and knowledge to paddlesports while contributing to the overall success of the store team.

KAYAK FISHING, OUTFITTING & BOAT REPAIR EXPERIENCE

While not required, we’re especially excited to hear from candidates with experience in kayak fishing, outfitting fishing kayaks, and paddlesports repair work.

Kayak fishing remains one of the strongest and most active segments within paddlesports, and GOPC serves a large community of recreational and tournament kayak anglers throughout the region.

Helpful experience may include:

· Kayak fishing

· Tournament fishing

· Fish finder and electronics installation

· Trolling motor setup

· Battery and wiring systems

· Lighting installation

· Kayak outfitting, accessory installation, and customization

· Plastic welding and polyethylene hull repair

· Fiberglass repair

· Skeg and rudder adjustment or repair

· General kayak and canoe repair knowledge

· Helping customers configure boats for fishing and adventure use

Candidates with strong kayak fishing, outfitting, and repair experience may have opportunities to help expand GOPC’s kayak fishing presence, events, partnerships, and community engagement efforts.

RESPONSIBILITIES

· Assist customers with kayaks, canoes, paddles, PFDs, roof racks, dry bags, and paddling accessories

· Help customers understand boat selection, transport systems, safety gear, and trip preparation

· Install roof rack systems and paddlesports carriers carefully and according to manufacturer specifications

· Help customers safely load and secure boats to cars, trucks, and trailers

· Help maintain a clean, organized, and visually compelling paddlesports department

· Assist with loading, unloading, lifting, moving, and safely staging boats throughout the shop and outdoor display areas

· Help plan and maintain attractive and effective boat presentations and merchandising displays

· Assist with receiving, moving, staging, and organizing boats and large gear

· Support demo events, community outreach efforts, and paddlesports-related programming

· Help maintain accurate boat inventory and department organization

· Assist customers throughout the entire store and contribute to the success of the overall team

· Help communicate customer feedback, local paddling trends, and product needs to GOPC’s paddlesports leadership team
